Employee retention rates have been something of a concern for a number of years now. As a matter of fact, the data is more than in support of this claim. Data gathered on the subject of employee retention has found that up to two and a half plus million workers left their jobs in the June of the year of 2015 alone, leaving their jobs on a voluntary basis, for that matter. This marked a more than one quarter increase in the number of people voluntarily leaving jobs from the June of the year prior and is a trend that has unfortunately only continued to grow.
Sadly, millennial employees have largely taken the blame for such issues seen throughout the working world. They have even become known as the job hopping generation, a moniker based on data that found that up to 60% of all millennial employees would be more than willing to leave their current job if it meant that they were able to get a better one down the line. Unfortunately, this is something that is very much not the fault of the millennials themselves, as there are now a number of reasons why such issues with job retention are seen, as professionals ranging from human resources recruiters to human resources executive recruiters to human resources consultants can all too easily attest to.
For one thing, human resources recruiters know that far too few work places are supporting their employees in the ways that these employees need to be supported. Again, this is something that is more than backed up by the data on the subject. This data shows that only a scant one fifth of all employees actually feel like they are encouraged by their superiors and managers to produce their best work. For most employees, the opposite is often true, something that can lead to a great feeling of apathy within the workplace – and it should come as no surprise why.
And this is far from the only problem seen in workplaces of today, as any and all human resources recruiters can easily point out. For instance, a lack of proper on boarding procedures can most certainly be hugely detrimental to people in different roles all throughout the country. When people and new employees are not on boarded correctly and with a lengthy enough process, they are likely to suffer from this greatly. In fact, extensive and thorough on boarding procedures and processes can greatly increase the chances of an employee still being employed at that same company years down the line, something that just is not seen without the right kind of on boarding.
Fortunately, human resources recruiters and other such professionals can help companies to grow and retain more employees. For one thing, human resources recruiters are likely to recommend some type of an employee recognition program. While this might seem like a relatively small scale thing to do, it is something that can end up having a much larger impact than you might think. As a matter of fact, more than 85% (around 86%, to be just a bit more specific) of all companies that have implemented such a program have noted that overall employee happiness has increased quite considerably. And when overall employee happiness rises, things like employee productivity and even just the quality of employee work is likely to improve as well, sometimes by quite a lot indeed. And at the end of the day, as human resources recruiters know, small changes are most certainly better than no changes at all, especially when it comes to the people you work with and who are valued employees in any given work community set up.
At the end of the day, it will take a good deal of effort to solve all the issues that lead to poor rates of employee retention. However, this does not mean that it cannot be done, as taking even small steps can make a big difference at the end of the day. For many people, getting the aid of professionals such as human resources recruiters is very much the way to go, and is something that will prove hugely beneficial.
